Perhaps decent compensation should be paid to those whose lives are already blighted by deafening planes flying over our houses every 90 seconds for half the day. This will increase to two thirds of the day, according to the Airports Commission report (page 183). The noise I suffer blights my quality of life. If it's going to increase, I want £1,000 a week. If the economic benefits are so fantastic, this can easily be afforded. Let's not go into the cost to the taxpayer of upgrading the access to Heathrow that expansion will involve. It's mega. Just consult that flawed report. I came here in 1981 when aircraft movements at Heathrow were about half today's number, and after so long here, I have nowhere to go. |
