Her resignation might just give us a better MP. Someone hungry to rise the political ladder by doing the right thing for their electorate, rather than a secure cabinet minister, furthering her own career at our expense. This latest failure to honour a matter of principle should come asa no surprise. Failure in transport, DfID, and the promotion of one school on an inappropriate site whilst facilitating development on another. Failure to vote on Syria, gagging laws, whilst ignoring dangerous pollution both on the ground, and in the upper stratosphere. This whole protracted mess is indicative of a political system preferring the pending tray to informed decision making. With Birmingham and Newcastle operating below capacity, surely talk of Northern Powerhouses should be translated into action. This obsession with London/SE as a "transport hub" defies logic, furthers national division, and the belief that Londoners are more important than anyone else. If we are a United Kingdom, let's start acting like one. |
