We'll have to agree to disagree on this Nick. I obviously don't want more and more planes overhead but at best the odds were 50/50 with Gatwick so this has not come as a surprise, and behind the scenes the wheels have probably been in motion for some time. I am convinced of this because I have a very close friend who lives in Spelthorne, in one of the villages that could be razed depending on exactly where the 3rd runway will be built. He has been telling me for some considerable time about 'strange' goings-on in the area which seemed to be happening in preparation of this decision forthcoming. That's why I can't see see any point in Justine (or Goldsmith) resigning when they can help their constituents in lots of other achievable ways. Maybe I'm a pessimist, or just a fatalist to accept this decision so readily, but I prefer the label realist. |
