Just a thought here, but that (unsourced) report indicates that Putney High Street breaches the limits significantly more time than Earls Court Road, a significantly busier road, and no obvious other factors for dispersing the noxious emissions. So let's see: - NOx emissions are a problem more with diesel than petrol. - PHS has a very high concentration of PSV diesels - buses - a significant proportion fresh out of the depot , and perhaps off optimum tune. - The measuring equipment is set up about 10' beyond a pelican crossing, with vehicles under load as they accelerate. Through the day, the lights are in use more than once a minute. You want to cut the readings, cut the buses, or turn off the crossing. Or just move the monitoring location 30' up the road. It's fair to consider how to reduce traffic and/or noxious emissions, but let's at least look at the real sources and not jump to conclusions. |
