Martine, Sorry for not responding sooner. All rules pertaining to CCTV operation and recording are in the Data Protection Act (DPA), please follow the link; http://www.ico.gov.uk/what_we_cover/data_protection.aspx , as you might imagine the act is lengthy and covers many areas as well as CCTV. In essence common sense must prevail. Do not let cameras overlook other properties sensitive areas, bedroom windows etc; it wouldn’t hurt to tell neighbors you were getting it installed. On the other hand recently in Putney a burglary was solved because a house across the street from a burgled propoerty had CCTV and had valuable recorded images. You must also as you said display a small notice to say that recorded CCTV is in operation. |
