..and on the other hand, alarms go off all the time and the police have a "do not respond" policy and the neighbours become infuriated, and unlike car alarms they don't have to turn off after a short period, so they can go for days if the homeowner is away for the weekend (as happened to us). The council and police both told me they cannot respond in any way, but that I was expressly forbidden to try to stop it myself. After 48 hours of alarm siren I was ready to burgle their house just to get revenge! |
