| My answer to your question, Richard, was implied by my alternative thought experiment. I would opt for b), with this proviso. I would not necessarily wait for the Church of England to complete its investigation of the incident, which might take some time. I would wait for someone who was present at the parish supper to provide further information about what was said and by who. It may be that this account would confirm Sharon Hunt's version or give some context or contradict what she said. We don't know. But I would want to be in full possession of the facts before forming a judgment. It seems that you are happy to express an opinion in ignorance of the facts. |
