Mr Ixer "hypocrisy" 'The practice of feigning beliefs, feelings, or moral standards that one does not truly possess'. You state 'I made no claims that atheists  couldn't be hypocrits sometimes' Good because being a hypocrite has nothing to do with whether or not such a person has religious belief. It is just a form of dishonesty such a person puts about to gain kudos or have some sort of effect on how people perceive them. Your 'devil's advocacy' might be considered as such. " there are no common "atheist" values, so difficult the contradict something that doesn't exist? But one can contradict claims atheists make as one can those from people having religious beliefs. I am glad you agree that atheists, people having no religious belief, can be hypocrites. Hypocrisy is just a human failing, unintentional or deliberate. For example I consider Mr Carter to be a hypocrite as shown by his continuous criticism of what I take to be the defensive actions of the Israelis and his seeming acceptance of similar aggressive actions of militant Palestinians. Unintentional because he cannot grasp the complexities of the Middle East conflict or deliberate because he takes the part of only one side involved in it and ignores the actions  of the other whilst pretending he is providing balanced analysis of the situation ?
