I'm not sure I'd be that dismissive of all states in that area, Mr Hawkes. The UAE has an embryonic space industry, with one mission to Mars - more than the UK has achieved (and Orbix has just gone into administration) and has a growing Info-Cyber Security Sector. I would guess the risk analysis of whether to terminate one's Mediterranean link in Israel or Syria in quite complex; yes, Israel has excellent cyber technologies but then again, there might be an Iranian risk in Syria. They might like to snoop on the Saudis as well and, I'm not sure about now, the Iranian's cyber intellect was pretty good at one time; or, of course, they might just blow it up! And we shouldn't forget that Dubai is become quite a successful business hub. Just because you don't like them, it's unwise to underestimate your opponents. I don’t claim to be an expert, I never have, I just have an interest in science and technology. The real experts, who I admire and respect, are people like those who were on the team that designed, built and launched - and remotely maintain and fix - the two Voyager spacecraft that have left the solar system and entered Interstellar space and are still sending back science data. Still, you can resist making snide, silly insults. |
