| Yes, the average property in the UK costs £309 I but in London it is around £600k and in Putney where we all l7ve it is in excess of £700k. Prices may be inflated here but that's what you have got to pay to buy a property in this town. So when average homeowners die in the north of England, say, their children will be able to inherit the house in its entirety without paying any tax. But when average homeowners die in London, their children will only inherit less than 80% of the house because of tax.l, which means that, in the absence of other assets, they would have to sell up. Is that what you call the rich paying their fair share? |
