No, what you would understand are the gut feelings of the British people who unlike you take pride and comfort from living in this country.

They don't think everything about it is despicable; that we are all racist (unlike yourself when it comes to Jews); that our history is no more than one long and wicked saga of oppressing other races; that our politicians, if they are not of the Labour Party are fascist and racist; and that our culture is impressively broad and open based on our many architectural, artistic and musical achievements in the past and our acceptance of those from immigrant groups that, more so than yourself, are pleased and often relieved to live here.

That is his basic, perhaps idiosyncratic, appeal to many British people that you and the Putney middle class 'progressives' will never understand.
