Hi Andy, "I read somewhere that the 20 odd posts affected have all been offered alternative jobs at the same grade." That appears not be the case as stated by the BBC & Unite. Another BBC webpage below says the local authority says that 17 people will get 6 months pay protection. Organisations have to modernise as the environment & technology changes. This should be a continuous process within any organisation. Although working practices that have existed for years can complicate matters. However in this case it looks like the situation has been made worse by previous bad management decisions, which I'm not sure anyone can defend. I do not have confidence that we have the whole truth from the local authority and they are doubling down on yet another bad decision and possibly not thought through the consequences of their actions. Unite have asked for so called reported offers to be put in writing so they can put it to their members. The losers will be the public that I think we can agree. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdjg07xvnnjo "The local authority claims the number of staff that could lose the maximum amount (just over £6,000) is 17 people and they will have pay protection for six months." |
