It doesnt happen anywhere else. This 'role' was added to the crews in Birmingham a few years back as part of a deal to solve another bin strike. You couldnt make it up. Also the Birmingham refuse is collected by directly employed staff whereas Wandsworth and many other Boroughs employ contractors and have done since Chopes day in the late 70s. |
