| I am posting this because of the need to look outside the box at the possibilities regarding step-free access and accessibility of train travel. Sometimes there are or could be options that Network Rail themselves with their money constraints will not/could not have considered. Network Rail have been heavily criticised for trying to replace this footbridge with a like-for-like stepped one rather quickly when the best time to improve accessibility would obviously be when replacement of a footbridge is deemed necessary for maintenance/safety reasons and not just accessibility. I don't know whether there has actually been a conclusion to this but I know that greater consultation did result in more and different alternative proposals.
