Anybody else called the council about noise out-of-hours (in an attempt to get them to come and do something about it) and found them totally unresponsive? Massively noisy party last night near our house (v.built-up area). At 1am, I called the out-of-hours noise number: I held for ages but didn't even get through to a real person. Same for when I called the council's main emergency number. No response at all. A few years ago, the big house next to us was converted into umpteen flats. Builders routinely worked outside permitted hours (Sunday mornings, 6.30am starts etc.) so I often contacted the council. It went on for >a year. Council did precisely nothing: no deterrent at all. My experience is that in Putney / Wandsworth, there essentially is no public service for sorting out nuisance noise except calling 999 (the non-emergency police no. does get answered & they say it's a council responsibility, which is true). |
