People are far less considerate than they used to be; I say that having lived in the same house on and off for 34 years and finding it far noisier than it was despite most of houses having previously been "flats" with 2 families to each house whereas now they tend to be one. Barking dogs are the worst; 6 am on weekends the killer. The loudest is an alsation type, the most frequent a terrier and really there is nothing you can do except fantasise about throttling the owners because they are the true culprits. Building work around me is constant and ongoing with no less than 6 properties undergoing total renovation their backs off etc. and I find them less annoying; when last week a new one started at 8am on sunday, cavorting around the roof complete with radio 1 and yelling into mobile phone, it was the last straw. Called the noise line, was promptly called back explained, they called back an hour later and said they had sent the builders packing but that it is not illegal for builders to work outside of normal hours, merely against Wandsworths "code of practice". There was a massive party up the street the night before, hundreds of people there all night, they weren't exactly outside in the garden just that the houses open plan layout together with full width kitchen doors meant that people spilled out into available space. I have to say it seemed a very nice well behaved party with nothing very loud and it did go on all night. I didn't mind. Saturday night party all good, a one off. Endless uncontrolled dog barking at 6 am? Infuriating. |
