I'm not sure they do Nick. Where does this right reside? There have been no criminal charges. The investigation carried out seems to have been an internal affair. The Conservative party have distanced themselves from him. Those that voted for Conservative candidates other than East Putney have no interest and those that voted for Mr. Morritt in East Putney voted for Mr. Morritt, not the Conservative Party. He remains their representative. That's our political system. There is no mechanism in our political system, of which I am aware, where a citizen can say "Oy! I hear a rumour that there have been dodgy dealings. I demand an explanation" and get one. Otherwise Chris Huhne might have gone to jail c. 10 years earlier. And Tony Blair would still be there. |
