I'm not sure you have this the right way round. The argument isn't about whether it's acceptable to swear at policemen and call them plebs (he's admitted to the former, both are unacceptable, everyone agrees). It's whether the police can be trusted. This is much more serious. Nor is it Tories v. the rest. Keith Vaz (another Labour politician) and his Home Affairs Select Committee are continuing to investigate. This is not party politics. The HASC is a cross-party committee. The alleged £60k belonged to the Tories and was (allegedly) misplaced/lost/trousered by a Tory. |
