Many thanks for taking the time to clarify this Adam, your knowledge is much appreciated. I have looked at Mr Morritt's page on the WBC website as suggested, and it is interesting to note on his Register of Interests one lunch at Henley Regatta. No mention of the £60,000 spent on taxis, stamps etc. Presumably people voted for him because he stood as a Conservative. He is suddenly rebranded as an Independent. What is to stop anyone changing their political complexion mid-term? Do you not have to stand as an Independent in order to elected as one? I am simply staggered that he has not been asked to resign. Who could have faith in this man in any capacity? He remains on the Finance and Corporate Resources Overview Committee, Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education, The General Purposes Committee (whatever that is) Adult Care and Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee, as well as the Council. Is no one scrutinising him? More worrying is the fact that Govindia has made no statement, and in my book that is the most worrying aspect of this. If I had trousered £60,000 when working for the NHS, I am sure I would have been suspended from duty. I simply cannot believe that we are all allowing this man to continue in Office. |
