Although I blow hot and cold on PR, I would be concerned if we had MPs that didn't represent actual people but were in the legislature by way of them being appointed by their Party- see how "Party List" works. STV for the election of constituency MPs seems fair enough as when the electorate is several thousand having an MP elected by a handful of votes seems to miss the point of representation. And to answer Bunny's point by being very pedantic, you are voting for an individual NOT a party- Justine Greening chooses to member to the Conservatives and she (and they) can remove that alegance without recourse to their electorate. And whether that's right is another story..... |
