I wonder if it does serve a wake up call to the other parties. Yes, people need a voice but it only takes one good orator to make them believe he can change the world for the better and make all their ills disappear even though he may well be a dictator in disguise. As an example I once went to see Benjamin Netanyahu address a rally in Trafalgar Square some years ago...he even won me over and most of the crowd attending, for a time, being full of charm and very persuasive. Sure Adolf Hitler did the same, Mussolini etc etc...and no doubt if ever there was a more charismatic leader of the BNP (shouldn't be too difficult!)or dare I say even UKIP, and they had more than 5% of the vote> It's not a pleasant thought. Politically speaking Britain is in a vacuum and that's not a good place to be. |
