| It certainly is complex and I don't have a clue how it can be sorted long term, however it's very clear that a long term solution is needed. To go back to my original point, there's a disconnect between the myth of recycling and the reality. Plastics companies want you to believe that they make products that are recyclable but in reality a vast amount of them cannot be. Of the plastic that can actually be recycled, that can only be recycled once or twice. So you have a situation where nearly all virgin plastics will eventually end up in landfill, or incinerated. That situation is not sustainable in the long run and you only have to look at pictures around the world of vast landfill dumps polluting the environment to see why. Certainly a lot of jobs and money depend on this industry but that doesn't mean we shouldnt try to rework it so that it's better for us and the planet does it? |
