First lesson that needs to be learnt from this extremely tragic case, is that foster parents need to be listened to. For the first nine months of Preston’s life he was in the care of experienced foster parents and perfectly happy and healthy. His foster mum developed a gut feeling something was wrong after one month with the new adoptive parents who only turned up for one of three arranged meetings. Second lesson that needs to be learnt is that adoptive parents cannot avoid arranged meetings such as this with social workers. Babies and children should not be hidden away. Third lesson that needs to be learnt, is that injuries to a baby or child, that cannot speak, need better explanations than the ones offered by the vile, disgusting monster that adopted Preston. I am sure there are more lessons to be learnt but those seem the obvious ones to me. |
