Ed, I've listened to Piers's IMG views on the uneven distribution of wealth and the need to remedy that at a number of Imperial College Union meetings in the early 70s. I was broadly in line with his political views then. I guess I still am, although it's generally referred to as "levelling up" by Conservatives, Labour, etc these days, and most of us accept social democracy has to coexist with (an ideally heavily regulated) capitalist system. (Just consider poor regulations in the water industry, or financial services prior to 2008, etc.)

I'm simplifying that considerably, I'm sure my 3rd year flatmates who were friends of Piers would criticise me for that! Piers is an intelligent  physics graduate from IC, those of us acquainted with him find it difficult to understand his propagation of certain conspiracy theories, particularly his denial of man made climate change.
