Matt, The bridge is wood and cast iron. Steel will be needed for any repair. They also have been heating one of the pedestials at huge cost. Of course a new bridge solution would be Cheaper and have less environment impact. How long will the repair last? Lifespan is also key. If there was an environment impact study on the proposed solutions by TFL and H&F etc, which there isn't, the cost to the environmental would include the wider impact not just the bridge.
