A number of years ago someone felled a tree on Oakhill Rd to expand his garage. He did not notify his neighbours and just went ahead. There was an outcry at the time but the council claimed they could do nothing about it as it was on private land, not protected and the conservation area boundary did not extend to this side of the street. The loss was severe as it cut down street noise, afforded privacy and looked great. The tree roots were a problem to the adjacent building but in my view the tree should have been cut back not felled.
