I'm sorry to have missed the drink too. To enlarge on my earlier comment, Sue Wixley was decent but rather wooden, Fleur Anderson articulate and measured: she sounded like an MP (which I mean as a complement not an insult!) and I could see her as a worthy successor to Justine Greening. But Fergal McEntee was the star of the show for me, and not because I'm a member of his party. He was relaxed and apparently completely unfazed by the very large crowd - and he put his policies over with humour and sincerity. And a word for Jonathan Callaway's chairing: it was a very difficult job given most of the candidates' attitude to time-keeping and I thought he handled it well. |
