A friend of mine had to price a job in Islington last week. he paid the ULEZ charge, the congestion charge (jointly about £25) then had to pay £9.80 yes £9.80 per hour to park on a meter which included a £6 surcharge for being a Diesel van (which he thought was covered by ULEZ charge but seemingly not). To charge for crossing a bridge would just about kill of his and many other businesses. If you charge for any bridge it would have to be for all otherwise all you do is move the problem along the river (as is happening with Hammersmiths closure). One would hope the ULEZ charge plus Hammersmiths own levy on its residents permits for diesel and just having a car would cover these repairs. as the bridge is listed I would have thought a bid for a grant from English Heritage would have a chance of success if its a structural issue rather than simple wear and tear of the road surface. Its a can of worms whatever way you look at it, |
