Nick - thanks. I'm still waiting for the Council's CEO and the Headteacher of Oasis Putney School to tell me when it will actually open and how many pupils have been enrolled. In September 2012 Cllr Kathy Tracwy whipped up panic about a shoetage of places in Thamesfield. She said "Without it [the new school] one in four children in Thamesfield ward alone could be without a school place." In fact the Council's projections for Thamesfield have been completely wrong, and the birth rate is now dropping, unlike in other parts of Wandsworth. But I hope the new school is a success, and inevitably there will some levelling of demand between all the primaries in Thamesfield and nearby. It's just a shame that building such a big, ugly, and unnecessary school will generate yet more traffic locally, and has damaged the Common by building the access road across it. Nick |
