Hi Sam My wife's a governor at our kids' primary, and said you shouldn't worry about waiting lists of 'only 7-9'. There are usually loads of people who move before they take up a place, or decide to go private. Our kids' school (Sheringdale in Southfields) has had waiting lists of 60. The best advice is to keep your nerve, but keep up to date with the school's situation - check with the school how your place on the waiting list is going periodically. Finally, if you are set on one school, but a place comes up at another one, you can start your kid at the school with the place, but ask to stay on the waiting list for the school you want. Many friends of ours eventually got their kid into our school by that route. Stressful times, but don't worry unduly. Wandsworth seem to be a pretty efficient council, and the general standard of all the schools is pretty good. |
