Jonathan is absolutely right, and every religion has its extremists. Sure there were the Al Qaeda/ISIS groups, but to imagine that Islam is uniquely tending to extremism is the result, sadly, of ignorance, prejudice and bigotry. Just think of them: * Christians were responsible for the Inquisition and for witch burning, to take only two examples; * the extremist Jews currently indulging in ethnic cleansing on the West Bank, just because their imaginary god supposedly gave them Judea and Samaria 15,000 years ago; * the extremist Hindus who demolished a 16th century mosque in Ayodhya; * But the Buddhists, everyone knows that's truly a religion of peace, don't they? Until they remember the extremist Buddhists in Myanmar who slaughtered thousands of Rohingya Muslims and expelled them from the country. So none is entirely clean and every one of them is liable to throw up dreadful examples of prejudice and violence. Religion? No thanks!
