The mosque is celebrating its 100th anniversary by handing out 10,000 free meals locally. I quote:

"To mark the occasion, the community has launched a year-long programme to serve 10,000 meals for the homeless and needy and to dedicate 10,000 volunteer hours for people in need across Britain. A special advertising campaign will also see 100 London buses carry messages about the mosque and its legacy in October."

I think it is far too sweeping to say Islam is not just a religion but a culture.  I have visited several Muslim countries over the years and found the cultures are very different: for example, Brunei, Malaysia, Azerbaijan and Morocco all have very different cultures within an Islamic setting.

The image the religion has acquired in the UK is heavily influenced by the many adherents from Pakistan and the particular culture of that country.  It's just one of many.
