I think you inadvertantly answered the question. 

"The fact that the talks last weekend stalled because Iran refused to hand over its uranium and insisted on its right to purify uranium in the future should be a matter of concern to the West."

So, the questions must be:

1) The US wants Iranian uranium as you indicated above, and

2) why does the West believe it is the only one that can have nuclear weapons?"  Of course, it does not include Russia (Putin is such a good guy, said Trump) and North Korea (which Trump visited with great delight).

It is an extensive read, but very clear.  Among the first paragraphs, it states:

"The agreement [Iran nuclear deal] took effect on 20 January 2016.[10] It was criticized and opposed by Israel, Saudi Arabia, Iranian principlists, and the Republican Party in the United States."

I rest my case.
