| Indeed, but it was the use of "accused" that pulled me in. "Accused" tends to make me think that it's official and so (possibly) more likely to be accurate, or at least worth considering. But then Daily Express and Mumsnet as sources are likely to be somewhat less reliable, I think. You ask "are we being naive about the depths of people’s wickedness if we dismiss it?". Yes, we can be. But we can also be naive about the lies which people do produce and circulate both intentionally and also through ignorance, about others. This has always been so. |
