| The impression, Sue, given by Virginia Giuffre’s brother is that she was an innocent seventeen year old debauched by Andrew. But in the original version of her autobiography she alleged that she had been sexually abused as a child by her father and various friends of her father. As a result of this terrible childhood she left home at fourteen, eventually falling into the clutches of Jeffrey Epstein. In other words the damage was done long before she slept with Andrew. Yet no interviewer as far as I am aware has ever asked her brother about this. None of this, of course, exonerates Andrew. Sleeping with a seventeen year old trafficked across the Atlantic was wrong, whether she was a willing or an unwilling participant. As to leaking secrets when he was a trade envoy, it remains to be seen whether this was just stupidity or part of a criminal enterprise from which he profited financially. He has clearly done incalculable damage to the institution of monarchy in this country. |
