| Have people forgotten that TFL was partly responsible for the damage? You have to factor in that buses and cars are a lot heavier than before. Not to mention the need for cyclists. A wooden & cast iron construction is simply not upto the job. It would require more closures and repairs a few years down the line and more money. The original Hammersmith Bridge was replaced by the current Bridge because it was unsuitable for the traffic. Average business loans start at 6% and go up tp 15%. That's a minimum of almost a quarter million pound in interest rates alone without capital repayment. A charity should be set up to raise funds for the bridges removal and relocation. |
