You are quite right, David. My arithmetic was at fault. The 40 000 strong army of Hamas equates to 2% of the population. But my point remains unanswered. Why was it justified to prosecute the war against Germany, reducing German cities to rubble and killing hundreds of thousands of civilians, until the Germans surrendered, whereas the Israelis, who have tried to reduce casualties among non-combatants, are expected to agree to a ceasefire leaving their mortal enemies intact? |
