Mr Pike

'Why do M.Ps need to be in a Union?'

Not because all of them are 'Horny-handed sons of toil' as they used to be !

In 2015 those deemed as ex-professionals (barristers etc) accounted for 31% of MPs.

Those described as 'white collar workers' (civil servants, local government) accounted for 11%.

Those described as 'manual workers, accounted for 3%.

With the rise to prominence of 'social work' and 'political activism' the trend away from manual workers to jobs in these areas has certainly made the shift even more prominent.

Why do such MPs need to be in a Union ?

Good question.

For the money I guess.
