I know I am stating the obvious but because the refuse workers are getting £100 per day strike pay, mentioned above, then this strike will carry on. I was in a union once when I worked for Birmingham University and went on a one day strike with the other secretaries and clerical staff. I regretted it when my salary payment came through because I didn’t get strike pay and I lost a day’s pay which was a lot of money to me. If this was a strike in the private sector, I doubt it would ever have happened. Birmingham used to have a brewery called Ansells. I was told they paid great money to their workers. They kept going on strike, the bosses said one more strike and we will close the brewery, which they did. |
