Justine Greening reports this month that, thanks to her intervention, the Danebury Avenue traffic barrier will stay closed. This is good news as opening the barrier would, as previously discussed on this forum, massively increase cars travelling through the Alton West estate. However, it's brazenly disingenuous for Miss Greening to claim credit for this change of heart, given that it was her who put removing it on the agenda in the first place back in 2008. Here, indeed, is her Putney SW15 report bragging about getting the council and TfL to start investigating the idea: http://www.putneysw15.com/default.asp?section=info&page=congreening54.htm Dogs bark, cats meow and politicians claim credit for things they should be apologising profusely for starting off in the first place when the truth all along has been that the estate has been resolutely opposed to opening the barrier, despite what Miss Greening and the Conservative council have been claiming these past six years. |
