I see there is a revised application for planning permission from Waitrose. No 2011/1917 Very similar to the last one. Still want to remove the very useful public entrance from Lacy Road into shopping centre which I know quite a few objected to. The revised application seems to centre around them removing proposed graphics in proposed shop windows which would have given dead shop frontage to the public passing in Lacy Road. It's a shame that we'll lose independent small shops, but if no one comes forward to take them over then I suppose Waitrose is better than empty shops. I wonder if this has anything to do with the steep increase in rates shops have to pay but that large chains can afford? If you want to read the reasons the previous application (2011/0109) was refused you can look it up on the Council's website via the application number and then look at the letter which gives the reasons it was turned down. Those who want to object should follow the info in Victoria's original posting. |
