The known shortage of school places in London exceeds 100,000. Wandsworth has a relatively high fertility rate and the number of homes has increased rapidly over recent years. Surely this situation could and should have been predicted. The problem here may be greater here than in many other boroughs but the selling off of "surplus" council assets, such as schools, to keep the council tax low seems to be proving to be a rather shortsighted policy. |
