Some interesting points, but I don't think they answer the argument, though: - NOx emissions may be greater from diesel than from petrol, but how much greater? I can't find any figures from a quick search, and without more data the comparison doesn't tell us much. And factor in that the occupancy level is much higher for buses than for cars/vans, and the NOx emissions per person will tell a very different story. - Yes, a high proportion of diesel-engined buses, but I would guess (again without data) that only a small proportion of them have just started from Chelverton Road garage. - I doubt very much whether the position of the monitor has a significant effect on the reading, and before you could compare PHS with Earls Court Road you would, on this basis, have also to see where the monitors were placed there. One final point: it's not just to reduce noxious emissions that we need to reduce traffic in PHS and elsewhere. |
