"I am afraid  I agree with Michael on this issue. Burnham has as much right to become prime minister as Brown, Johnson, Truss and Sunak, none of whom came to power through a general election. I just think a Burnham premiership will be disastrous for the country."

I don't have the same view on Burnham (I don't really have much of a view about him tbh) but thank you for agreeing with me.

I think its unfortunate for changes of prime minister (of any party) to take place like this but if we had an election every time we would have had a ridiculous amount in the last few years.

Personally I think a better solution would be to have a rule that limits the number of times you can change leaders without having an election.
