That Burnham would win was inevitable in my opinion.   He had been all over Makerfield for several weeks, constantly door-knocking and generally schmoozing and love-bombing the residents.   In addition to his efforts there was also a Left-wing juggernaut in situ comprised of several big beasts from the Labour government, and they engulfed the town in the week before the election.   Rayner was one of them and she was sticking to Burnham like a huge ginger limpet.   Ginge desperately wants to be elevated back to the Front Bench  and she wants the Deputy PM job again.

(Incidentally has the incumbent bloated buffoon said anything remotely relevant today?)

I am sure this pact between Rayner and Burnham was concocted months ago
and more MPs have also been jockeying for Cabinet positions.   The rats-in-a-sack fighting will kick off very soon.

Back to the election.  The Makerfield  residents were being force-fed the media hyperbole that the ‘King Of The North’ would save the country if elected and he would be the one to oust Starmer and take his place as PM.   I imagine that the inference they could be instrumental in deposing the universally despised Starmer was very inviting.   If Burnham succeeds in this …. good for him!👍

Very well done to Kemi !!👏👏👏
