My comparison is of the believability of Farage's assertion it was a strings-free gift and the believability of Sturgeon's claims of ignorance.  I don't believe either.

Any statement that starts "Everybody knows" should be treated with extreme caution in my view.  How do you know everyone knows?

I am not saying youth unemployment isn't a serious problem, or that the number of young people on benefits isn't a serious problem either.  Alan Milburn has just highlighted the extent of the problem and one hopes it will concentrate minds in government to devise solutions.  It's complex and it's not going to be easy to fix.

Is it the biggest problem facing the country?  I could draw up a list but I doubt any of us would agree on what should be on the list never mind the order in which they should be ranked.

Let's just say there are huge problems just about everywhere we look and one of the biggest, in my view, is the dearth of political talent to deal with them.  The last lot failed, the current lot are hardly excelling and where can we turn?  To the populists on the left and right who offer soundbite solutions but very little by way of practical policies the majority of us can get behind?

On that depressing note I'm off out on my bike for a bit of fresh air!
