I am not a supporter of Reform or a Farage fan (or a fan of any politician), but I don't like the character assassination to which Farage is regularly subjected. The criticism is mostly unfair and certainly counter-productive. The accusation that he is in politics 'for the money' is unjustified. There are far easier and more lucrative ways to make money than becoming a politician. Most businessmen take a salary cut when they enter politics. The same is true of Farage who was a successful commodities trader before he became an MEP. And unlike many of his rivals, who flip-flop for political advantage, he is a conviction politician. When he started his political career he was virtually a lone voice, regularly derided and abused by his opponents. His career could easily have ended in abject failure. But he persevered and was finally vindicated by the Referendum. And now he has a chance of becoming prime minister. You may not like him, Jonathan, but he is undoubtedly the most significant UK politician of the century.
