| I don’t think a report from Teheran which focuses on the trauma of growing up amid the fear of missile strikes but entirely ignores the mass murder which occurred three months ago is good journalism which, to use your phrase, Michael, challenges our ‘prejudices and preconceptions’. It could be described as regime propaganda. As for Fergal Keane’s reporting from Gaza, I don’t doubt that his voiceovers gave expression to some of the tragedies which occurred in the course of the war. But sitting in Jerusalem he failed to mention that all the interviews in his reports were conducted by local journalists under the control of Hamas which itself was never mentioned, let alone the massacre and hostage taking which precipitated the war. |
