| Huge steps forward have been made to change packaging from mixed materials to single materials. There really should be more acknowledgement of some of the very neat designs that have been created - some really clever boxes that open and close with no other material being used and just dismantle and flatten to be recycled. There used to be a lot of PVC and non-foam polystyrene containers which seem to have disappeared and there is more PET, PP and HDPE. Plastic lids are often now connected so that they can be recycled together with the bottle. Films can generally be recycled at a larger supermarket which helps to reduce even more the amount and making it easier for those who don't have a lot of space for bins to recycle.. Ring pulls on cans don't decorate the parks in the way that they did now that the ring pulls stay on those cans. www.recyclenow.com is useful if you can't find the info you want on your Council's very informative website. |
