Mr Hawkes. My main point was obviously that good or bad stateg/policy decisions can set the scene for future decades. I expect if Mrs Thatcher had said "we need to do something about climate change" she'd have got some action started because of her international standing and scientific background credibility? Obviously, it wouldn't have fixed things overnight but would have set a strategy for the UK, these things would take time to evolve and, hopefully, ended with the UK becoming a leader in renewables, but sadly that potential opportunity was lost :-( (And, yes, until now, subsequent. Labour and Conservative governments have missed the boat as well.) Did I say the NHS was "perfect"? But better than what had preceded it in the UK from what I heard in my childhood. Yes, to be fair, many people seem to complain about their health system wherever they are, be it the UK, US ... even Switzerland ... Glad you agree with my previous posts over time that things aren't binary but usually a spectrum. (Don't think I said health care was "binary"; just you making odd, unwarranted inferences again from me using a couple of examples on a specific point rather than a thesis on health care.) |
